About The Book
This is a funny,
sweet portrait of a little adopted dog, Piccolo (pronounced Peekolo),
who is quite a character. He is always getting into mischief
and is so smart that he keeps his new Mama laughing at his antics.
Piccolo was a little
puppy that prayed for a new Mama for he and his sister, and God
answered his prayer. All
Piccolo knows is love, Mama
spends so
much time with him. Until one has
loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened. |

About The Author
The Author, Mary Lake lives in the small
town of Burson, historic Calaveras County, California. Her life has
been a roller coaster ride of fun, hard work, heartache and loving
her family. She shares her time between her large, close, lively
family and writing short stories and poetry. When she isn't writing
she is gardening, collecting rookie football cards and taking in
both human and animal strays. She is devoted to her own little pup
and her favorite organization, the Humane Society. Mary is a
die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan, living among Oakland Raiders and San
Francisco 49er fans. She loves a lively, competitive session
harassing each other about their teams. Her dream is to attend a
Dallas Cowboy game at Texas Stadium.

Author Comments
I was inspired to
write this book after I adopted my own little pup. I have had a dog
since childhood and have always been amazed by how smart they are.
There is so much expression in their eyes and it has always been a
mystery.
I am always wondering what they
are thinking. As I trained and loved my own little Piccolo, the
looks in his eyes made my imagination take flight into his world. I
always wondered if God created these special little creations with a
heart like His own, they love us so easily. Maybe they are our
"angels unaware". They don't care if we are skinny, over weight,
pretty or plain, they simply love us.
There are lessons
for children in my book. Trust in God when you are afraid, share
your toys, care about the hungry, and don't fight with your brothers
or sisters. I have been working on this book for almost a year but
have wanted to write since childhood. I have had wonderful dogs in
my lifetime, each so special in their own ways.
I
was a working single Mom for many years as a payroll specialist for
large construction firm and
later worked at
trucking company
too. I retired in 1996.
Through the years have written many short stories and poems but
never attempted publication, just have file folders marked "My
Heart" and "Doggie Humor". |

In
looking for a book to purchase for my grandchildren, I was captured by the
illustraions and then the story. This book contains many lessons for
children, especially when so much cruely exists to animals today. It
demonstrates the happiness that having a pet brings to we humans.
Congratulations to the author, illustrator and publisher for providing
this book to the public. Thank you to all.

Reviews This is a wonderful story
of love between a pet and it's owner.
There is a message on every page for parents and children. And I love the
poem, our pets really do love us unconditionally, I never realized that
Dog is God spelled backwards. A must for every child.
