About the Book
Pinky Pig was just an ordinary pig until
a meteorite crashes to the ground in the woods near her home. Pinky
believes if she touches the meteorite she will become a super hero
and Super Pig is born.
Super Pig and her friends from Holly Hock Farm and The Piney Woods
are back in this second book of the Super Pig Adventures, ‘Super Pig
to the Rescue’. In their new adventures, Super Pig and her friends
work together to rescue the Thanksgiving turkey whom they befriend
just weeks before the holiday. They find buried treasure and learn a
lesson in what true treasure is. They visit their farmer in the
hospital and learn that laughter is good like medicine. Super Pig
discovers an alligator in June Bug Creek and helps Alan Alligator
find a new home. She rescues the neighborhood dogs from a dog-napper
who takes her friends, Logan Labrador and Connie Collie. Super Pig
and Avery Albatross save their friend, Judy Hedgehog, who floats
away with the red balloon Pinky Pig brought home from the County
Fair. Super Pig goes to her very first circus; she gets a temporary
sidekick and rescues Annie Mouse, who gets lost in the snow. In the
last chapter, Super Pig and the rest of the animals of Holly Hock
Farm and The Piney Woods have a special Christmas and spend the day
sledding down hills and skating on the frozen duck pond.
Super Pig to the Rescue is a children’s book with beautiful artwork
and fun illustrations. There are 10 chapters, each a different
stories about Super Pig and her friends from Holly Hock Farm and The
Piney Woods. These light hearted adventures are meant to entertain
while hopefully teaching a few lessons along the way. Each chapter
ends with Pinky Pig in her pen thinking over the day’s events and
saying a bedtime prayer. A bible verse accompanies each chapter. |

About the Author
I worked on Super Pig to the Rescue for
about 9 months. My first book The Adventures of Super Pig took over
2 years, but as my writing improved so did my speed. My Super Pig
books came about as the result of a stuffed toy pig a friend sent my
sister. My sister and I work together and her friend sent it to our
office. It was big floppy pig and everyone kept stealing it and
putting it at different workers’ desks, dressed like that person. We
had a lot of fun with it. I started writing notes from ‘Pinky Pig’
on the person’s PC whom she was impersonating. Then I did a bio on
her, and it just went on from there. (I guess we don’t have enough
work to keep us busy at my office.) One day someone said, “Why don’t
you write a book?”, so I did. I work with a friend who is a talented
artist so I asked if he would like to illustrate my book. I’m so
glad I did. Don’s wonderful illustrations truly bring the book to
life.
Writing these books has been a great experience and very fulfilling.
The best part is the reaction and feedback from the kids. It has
been extremely rewarding. My goal in writing the Super Pig stories
is to show children that they do not have to have super powers to do
the right thing. Super Pig has no powers but she believes she is a
super hero and she never hesitates to help those in need. She is
sometimes afraid, sometimes clumsy and sometimes wrong, but she
learns from her mistakes and keeps on rescuing. She has good friends
whom she often asks to help with the rescues. Sometimes we can’t do
things on our own. Having good friends is important and there is
nothing wrong with asking for help when you need it. Super Pig to
the Rescue is dedicated to the close circle of friends I spend time
with. My life would be much poorer if not for their love and
friendship though the years. Good friends ARE a true treasure.

About the Illustrator
The first time I can remember reaping
actual earthly treasure by doing art was in the fourth grade. Our
teacher announced a Fire Prevention Poster Making Contest. I knew I
had first prize all sewn up. I was good at art...not so good at the
Three R’s. I drew a picture of Bambi, running for her life before a
huge wall of flame. Glancing around at my competition, I knew I had
it aced. I was totally stoked. The next day our teacher stood, my
poster in hand, and announced that I (Don) had won first prize. I
started to levitate with pride. She went on to say I would get my
prize as soon as I corrected the spelling of the caption. Sure
enough, the headline read, save the beer. My ego deflated with a
loud hiss and I did my best to hide under my desk. Good at art...not
so good at spelling. To add insult to injury, first prize was three
tickets to the movies...our family didn’t go to movies back then. I
still have the tickets to this day.
Much later, finishing college as a real
artist/illustrator, I found that my little family expected me to put
bread on the table (earthly treasure). My wife and I were also
interested in storing up heavenly treasure (the souls of those
believing in Jesus). My first job was for a missionary agency in
Darwin, Australia. I illustrated primers, graded reading books and
Bible story books for the Australian Aborigines. The books were
written in various Aboriginal languages with speakers scattered
across the “Top End” of Australia. Returning to the States, I have
done graphic design for many years in the mission headquarters,
first in Southern California and now in Central Florida. My latest
and greatest effort has been illustrating and doing the design for
Roxanna Andrews’ two Super Pig books. What a great time I have had
working on these books. Hearing that people have enjoyed reading
Super Pig is icing on the cake.
