About the Book
Part of the wonder of living in the woods surrounded by nature and
wildlife is watching all its tales unfold. PeTunia is one of
those stories. Follow a young bear named PeTunia through a day of
wandering in the woods, particularly at a special stop in Boone
Hollow. She can be a naughty bear, stealing seeds from the birds
and pulling down feeders, but mostly PeTunia is just a gentle
creature who will, in the end, steal your heart. There are many
bear facts for young readers included, accompanied by several
pictures of PeTunia's friends. In keeping with her passion to
educate others about cohabitating peacefully with wildlife, Trish
plants seeds of compassion in the hearts of the young and old
alike. |

You'll do yourself a favor if you buy
PeTunia's story, as every child and adult who follows the young bear's
curious investigations will be surprised and amused by her antics and
thoughts which she narrates as she strolls along. The accompanying photos
are superb, and worth the book alone! It's a treat just to see what a
bear in her habitat can be up to, when not snoozing! An extra nice touch
of Ms Kirk's is to give us some interesting "bear facts" at the end of the
book. I'd love to see follow-ups to "PeTunia" to know what goes on in a
day in the life of other animals!!

What a terrific book for all adults and
youngsters, whether they read it themselves or have it read to them.
PeTunia takes us along on her adventures and
mishaps as she heads for Boone Hollow. She narrates or thinks aloud in a
most endearing, humorous way. She is thoroughly entertaining and bound to
put a big smile on the reader’s face. And wait until you see the
spectacular photographs of her on every page! I doubt you’ll find any
comparable book. There are educational “bear facts at the end of the
story, which is a very nice plus. I’d highly recommend this book, but
beware, you will fall in love!

PeTunia is an
enchanting book. The photographer/author uses her skills well. It's
almost like PeTunia knew this book would be made as her body language and
facial expressions couldn't fit the text better. This book will have the
reader, child or adult, smiling from start to finish while they share an
afternoon in Boone Hollow with PeTunia, a young bear doing what comes
naturally. Trish Kirk shares with us in such a delightful way just what a
wild and free young bear does. I'd recommend this book for any age group.
It's perfect for sharing with a youngster or for a teacher to share with a
class. The bear facts at the end of the book are also accompanied
perfectly by photos of bears in the wild.
