About the Book
Animals of the Alaskan tundra
receive word of the birth of the Christ Child in Bethlehem. With
great excitement they discuss the possibility of giving the new born
babe a gift.
“But it would have to be a very special gift for such a special
baby,” said the ermine.
None of the animals could agree on what the gift should be. Finally
they all decide to visit the Arctic angel to see what her gift
advice would be.
The angel suggests a very simple gift and the group of animals are
surprised. Why hadn’t they thought of it?
When the gift was delivered to the Christ Child in Bethlehem the
animals that made that delivery underwent a startling change. Those
same changes have occurred each fall for the past two thousand years
as a reminder of that perfect gift.
At Christmas or any other time of the year, for that matter, each
one of us has the opportunity to present a similar gift to the
Christ Child! |

About the Author
Michael J. Larson taught high school
biology for thirty-four years. That’s when he encountered the
animals of the tundra for the first time. In the beginning they were
subjects in ecology presentations to his students. Then he included
them in a Christmas story written for an environmental column in a
small monthly farm newspaper over twenty-five years ago.
The author resurrected that Christmas column ten years later
re-writing it as a children’s story and “Nature’s Christmas Story”
was born!
Mr. Larson first wrote for children when he produced an
environmental column for the magazine “Minnesota Out Of Doors”, St.
Paul, MN. He later published the seventy-two columns resulting from
the six year writing stint into a three volume collection titled
“Children In The Outdoors”.
Although he is retired from full time teaching he continues to
develop environmental learning experiences for children as the
director of the Bonanza Education Center along Big Stone Lake.
The author lives with his wife Kathie on a small acreage near the
town of Wheaton, Minnesota. They have three grown children who have
blessed the family with seven grandchildren. |

they are very proud to watch her illustrate children’s books. |
