About the Book
Diving Into Grace, Stories of
Transformation, is a non-fictional book
for women who are at a turning point in their lives. From her
philosophy of “Experimental Living” Susanne explains that “Grace is
where the sacred and the outrageous merge and nothing is ever the
same.” Women are invited to remember, claim, and cherish their own
stories as they read through short stories from her life which
encounter God in the ordinary, the ridiculous, and the mysterious.
An encounter with Mary, Our Lady of Grace, as a Protestant child
growing up in the South sets the stage for a childhood of unusual
experiences. Life in a family of seven, in a neighborhood where the
Coe children are the unwelcome guests of some of their neighbors
provides the background for grace to abound. Thankfully, burglar
bars on their bedroom windows keep the neighborhood safe from the
Coe children at night.
Susanne shares life lessons learned from
teachers of grace found in both unusual and familiar places. These
lessons become a thread of grace that hold her life together.
The theme of waiting for life’s big
questions to be answered is found in stories ranging from puberty
and pregnancy to aging and death. Each life experience teaches her
to trust in God’s grace because the more she learns the more she
realizes she does not know. Disarmingly Susanne shares the greatest
pain of her life, the loss of an infant son in several stories, one
of which tells of an encounter with a “rag man angel” in New York
City. In “Ivy’s Smile” she tells of a mission so outrageous that it
could have only come from God. “Watercolor Ballerina” reveals the
discovery of an artistic gift long buried and her original artwork
is included in the book. Written with boldness and honesty,
Diving Into Grace, Stories of Transformation holds the key to
unlocking life changing possibilities of being awakened to grace. |
